Game of Throne casting news.
Camelot star Liam Cunningham signed to play Davos Seaworth. He's a solid actor, but he wasn't quite what I expected Davos to look like. Oh well though.
Carice van Houten will play Melisandre. It's not the dream casting, but it is a very good one. She was great in Valkyrie. Great choice, a bit under the radar, but impressive.
Again, another under the radar choice, but if you've seen John Adams, you'll know what to expect from Stephen Dillane.
Overall, not who I expected, but when you take a step back, maybe you don't need super stars.

Sometimes, the less known actors can be better than the big name ones. They know they have to make an effort and not just rely on their reputation to catch their fall.
ReplyDeletenice news!
ReplyDeleteI love the series, looking forward to season 2 and I am already reading the books! :D
I really like the choice of Dillane :)
ReplyDeleteGood to see faces set to characters.
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking of watching this show, still not so sure.
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling this is actually pretty good casting actually. I'm not a massive fan of Game of Thrones so perhaps I'm underqualified to comment on it, but I like the two male actors especially.
ReplyDelete...Also, the woman is hot >_>
The likenesses aren't too far off, in my opinion. I'm anticipating good things from this :)
ReplyDeleteinteresting. you dont always need big names to make a great movie though
ReplyDeleteThese are the castings for season 2 right? 'caus I'm at episode 6 now and I haven't heard of any of those characters yet! :P
ReplyDeleteSuper stars tend to ruin things anyway.
ReplyDeletegood acting and characters that look the part are more important to quality than "established" actors. I really should finish this I've only watched the first 3
ReplyDeleteA lot of the first season actors never acted before and they did a real good job. I never read the books though and I don't know if I can wait until the next season!
