Your Highness was god awful.

Danny McBride can't carry a movie on his humor alone. The brash and vulgar style only works if there's someone else to even it out a bit. I enjoy McBride, but he does get annoying. Due to being written by McBride, that's the gist of the humor in the film.

Aside from Portman looking absolutely stunning, there's really no reason to watch this movie. The SFX sucks, the jokes are bad, and the script is just terrible.

Final Destination 5 is definitely worth seeing.

First let me start off with this, I love the series, I admit they aren't very well written or good movies in general, but they are a blast to watch and are a legit guilty pleasure of mine. I love mindless gore, and cool little cause and effect traps.

As for the series in general, 1 is always going to be my favorite just because it was fresh and something new for the "horror" genre. The way they built tension with each death, making you piece together a death before it even happens, it was cool. 4 was actually my least favorite, despite having some cool deaths, I found most of it unrealistic looking. With the other FD's, the deaths all seemed legitimate, stuff that could actually happen.

As for 5, I think this might actually be the best. It had a very likeable lead, unlike 4, had actual grief from some of the survivors, and was easily the best looking movie in the series. From the amazing looking bridge collapse that starts the whole film, to each gory and gruesome death, the film was very well done. That was my main problem with 4, it all looked so unbelievable CGI'd.

The director/writer did an excellent job with the film, many complained that the trailer gave away each of the deaths, but they really don't. I was sitting in the theater, getting ready to cringe with the screw or the eye surgery, but that wasn't the death, something else would happen. They built the tension so well before each death. You knew something that may happen, but then it'd turn out to be a completely different death than you were expecting. The film even has a very cool twist to it. Something the others lacked. I'd put it up there with some of the SAW twists.

Overall, it was a very good film that I'll definitely watch again, and if it's ever on TV, I'm definitely sticking it out.

A cool comic recommended by a non comic fan.

I'm not really into comics, I used to collect cards, and aside from owning a handful of Punisher Comics, and the first few Spawn issues, I was never really a comic nerd. I mostly enjoyed the art design and so forth without caring much for the story or background. I did enjoy the old X-Men show, and love watching the movies. But again, not really into the comic scene much.

That's just the precursor to this, I was at my friends house for the weekend and he was showing me this graphic novel/comic series in book form that actually sounded really awesome. I've been a fan of a few GN's, Sin City, 300, and Watchmen were all cool. This was based on Wolverine though. It was called, Old Man Logan. Was the story of what happened when the worlds villains joined together and took over the world. Wolverine became a pacifist, the worlds heroes were killed or went into hiding, and the US was split into 4 different sections, each controlled by a different villain, Red Skull got the East coast and proclaimed himself the President, Doctor Doom got the Bible Belt, Magneto got the Mid West, and Abomination got the West Coast.

50 years or so have passed and Wolverine is living out his life as a farmer. His territory is now owned by The Hulk and ran by his various kin. They're more so lords of the land and force Wolverine's and other surrounding families to pay taxes and so forth to stay on their land. Wolverine, despite being well renowned lives his simple life and pays, until they jack the rates up, to which he's stuck trying to find a way to pay these new rates. He gets beat down by the Banner gang and gets a visit from an old friend, a frail and blind Hawkeye who's willing to pay him for his services in being a courier. This leads to them taking a cross country journey where they encounter familiar faces throughout.

I didn't read the entire thing, but skimmed through most of it, and I thought it was a well thought out story. There's a very Fallout/Mad Max feel to it while also feeling much like a western too. Tons of graphic violence and it was cool seeing various heroes and villains pop up.

Again, I'm not a big comic guy, but this whole idea and story intrigued me. The group that did it plan on doing more, and I'm actually looking forward to them. I for one think it'd transition into an amazing movie, whether live action or animated.

Give it a look.

30 Minutes Or Less is worth seeing.

30 Minutes stars Jesse Esienberg of Zombieland/Adventureland fame, along with the always funny Tom Haverford,  and the brash and unrelenting Danny McBride seemingly playing Kenny Powers or really any of his other character. I suppose he's playing Danny McBride at this point.

The story goes like this, Danny is a 30 something year old son of a former Military man who wound up winning the lotto. He wants his dads money so he devises a plan to kill him and inherit the money. He gets word he can get him killed for 100k so he sets out on another plan to get the money. He along with his best friend (Swardon) kidnaps a Pizza Boy (Eisenberg), strap a bomb to his chest and tell him to bring them 100k or he dies. Eisenberg of course goes and recruits his friend Aziz to help him and hilarity ensues.

Despite having 3 very different and funny actors, the one who stole the show was Michael Pena as the hired assassin. He has several lines that either make you smile or laugh out loud. He truly displays why he should be getting more roles than he does. I've personally been a fan since his run on The Shield back in 04 or 05.

Overall, it was a fun movie with quite a few solid laughs. A very cool soundtrack and one of the cooler songs for a chase scene ever imo.

The only thing that sorta bugged me, is that this is somewhat based on a true story. A few years ago, someone actually kidnapped a guy and forced him to rob banks and ended up killing him. I'm not one of those too soon types, but this movie seems to just take it in good fun despite the realistic event ending tragically.

Either way, go see it, don't, whatever. I personally enjoyed it. It's a brisk 90 minutes from opening credits to after credits scene.

7.5/10

First image of Zach Snyders Superman.

Henry Cavill doesn't look too bad. Better than Brandon Routh at least.

I'm not a fan of the scales on the suit though. Wasn't it suppose to be homemade?

As for the pic itself though, looks pretty neat. Explosions, good looking guy, and an iconic suit. Is there really anything else you need to see?

Overall I'm kind of stoked. I enjoy Snyder films, even if I'm the only one.

Rest in Peace Bubba Smith (Hightower)

Former NFL great and Police Academy star died today. For those that don't remember, Bubba Smith was a 2 time pro bowler and helped The Baltimore Colts beat The Cowboys in Super Bowl 5.

After removing himself from the gridiron though is perhaps where his most memorable appearances came, Police Academy. The 6 foot 7 athlete turned actor played the aptly named Hightower in the series. Despite his massive scary frame, he was very loveable and you just wanted to hug him.

As an avid football fan, and a fan of great 80's movies, I am saddened by this. With that said, I'll now go watch Citizens on Patrol.

Quick post for now. Gears of War 3 free Multi-Player character download.

Gears of War 3 plans to have the largest array of multi-player skins of the entire series and they just released a new one that's free unlike some of the other store specific ones.

Go to this link, "like" it and then install the silly program, they give you the code, enter it on XBL, then you can delete the program if you'd like after. It's simple and it's a pretty cool character voiced by Ice-T.

http://www.facebook.com/gearsofwar?sk=app_126086684151640

Not sure how many people are going to be using this character since it's assumed to be Facebook exclusive so who knows. Hope this helps at least one of you out.

New photo of Bane from The Dark Knight Returns.

TDKR is shaping up to be pretty epic. I'm not too big on the costume for Bane, but I'm a huge Tom Hardy fan, so him in anything is going to be awesome, even Star Trek Nemesis.

This pic to me makes him seem more more awesome, however it's also a bit silly since he's just walking around with that silly mask on.

Smurfs wasn't too bad. Crazy Stupid Love was very good.

Double review here. First Smurfs.

Smurfs, was exactly what you expect. Those who see it then whine it's got kiddy jokes and a silly premise obviously don't understand who the movie is catered to. Most of the jokes are mediocre, but there are some quality adult jokes. Not just Smurf this and Smurf that. Also, Azaria is worth seeing it alone for. Every scene he's in he steals. It's not an amazing performance, but it is a very fun one. Seeing Azaria ham it up was easily the highlight for me. The story is contrived, but it works, the sentiment behind it is fine too. NPH did a fine job as did Vergara, overall, expectations extremely low, i did end up laughing a few times. I guess that's all  I can expect from a film like this.

5.5/10

Crazy Stupid Love to me looked formulaic and boring. The previews kept showing me things I swear I've seen dozens of times before. I went in thinking it was going to suck and it did. The first 20 minutes at least. After that though, the movie got great. It had some solid twists and turns, very well written jokes, and very likeable characters. The entire premise isn't too unbelievable and you get a good idea of what's going to happen when, but it's still oddly refreshing. Everybody performs well enough, there really aren't any cringeworthy scenes and overall was very enjoyable. It's one of the better romantic comedies of the last 5 years. I'd put it firmly behind (500) days of summer and Definitely, Maybe.

8.5/10

I'd honestly say skip Smurfs unless you have kids, they'll love it, and go see Crazy, Stupid, Love if you're wanting a good date movie.

Pretty good Entourage Premier.

After a mediocre season 6, a pretty good season 7, I came in expecting season 8 to be pretty good. I wasn't let down. Season 8 picks up a few months after the season 7 finale and finishes off that story only to set up the current season plot. Not entirely sure what it is, but thus far, it seems it's a redemption theme.

I for one wrote the show off after season 6, but it seems that they got their stuff together and are at least trying to develop a good story and plot rather than meddle around endlessly in their lavish lifestyles as if it's intriguing or entertaining anymore. By adding character depth, I feel they saved this show. While season 8 might be the last, I wonder if I'll be satisfied at the end or be happy it's finally over. Either way, with the way things are going, I wouldn't be too upset if they just went ahead and signed on for another year or two. I of course am making the assumptions based solely off one episode, but I hope it continues the path it's on.

Amy Winehouse died. :(

I for one was a fan of hers. She wasn't the typical popstar. Her songs actually had honesty in them, she had a voice that gave you an idea of the struggles she'd been through, and she brought you back to another time in music. Not poppy overproduced songs, but heartfelt tunes about the trials and tribulations of life.

Everyone knew she was going to die with the buffet of drugs she was on at any given time of day, but it's still very sad to know she's gone. It's actually more of a shame. I wonder if her legacy will now live on like others before her time.

Oh well, sad to see her go, but at least she's done suffering mentally. 27 strikes again.

Captain America was pretty good.

There's a line in the movie that describes what the Super Soldier Serum does, besides enhance you physically. It also takes what's in your heart. If you're good, it makes you great, and if you're bad, it makes you very bad. Well in terms of this movie, it raised it from a pretty solid movie to pretty good movie.

Not big into Cosplay, but this girl is awesome.

Her name is Meagan Marie, here she Cosplays as Anya from Gears Of War with an amazing costume. She deserves much credit for this. What's awesome, is Cliffy B (guy behind the Gears franchise, seemingly the face of EPIC) was awesome enough to send her a replica Lancer to use for her costume.

Just looks near perfect.

Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom characters revealed.

Nemesis, Vergil, Rocket Raccoon, Nova, Doctor Strange, Frank West, Phoenix Wright, Iron Fist

There you have it, Capcom releasing 12 new fighters to go along with their previous 38 to round out a 50 character roster. Not bad. I'm just upset with no Juggernaut, Mega Man, or Doctor Octopus. I just feel a game like this needs more than one Spider-Man character. Especially when there's several Avengers, several X-Men, and several RE characters.

Oh well though, Guess I can wait for Super Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom Tournament Edition.

Game of Throne casting news.

Camelot star Liam Cunningham signed to play Davos Seaworth. He's a solid actor, but he wasn't quite what I expected Davos to look like. Oh well though.

Rampage is gonna kick Jon Jones' ass.

He already embarrassed him here, now to take him out in the ring.

I for one like Jones. He's a great fighter who's extremely fun to watch, I just feel the media and UFC in general is way overrating him. Yes he's a stud and a monster, but it's not as if he's faced top tier competition throughout his UFC run. Aside from Rua, it's arguable he hasn't faced another top 10 guy. The fact he ducked Rashad, a fighter I really don't like, really annoyed me too. It's not as if Rashad is some amazing fighter who strikes fear into you. He's just another of the top tier fighters, no better or worse than any of the other top 5 fighters. But for some reason, he was scared enough to claim he had an injury and needed surgery backing out of their fight, then when they found a replacement and the contract was signed, he was all of a sudden fine enough to fight again meaning the last guy that Rashad beat is now getting a title shot before him.

Other than that though, do I really think Rampage will win? Not sure, I hope so, but more than anything, I hope for a  much better fight than the Rua fiasco, where Rua came in fat, unprepared, and possibly injured.

iCarly references The Wire.

Pretty boss to see The Wire get some mainstream love I guess, especially after running under the radar nearly its entire 5 season run.

Was at my friends house watching this last night with his son and I was like, wtf that's a complete tribute to The Wire.

Now if you havn't seen The Wire, don't search for the original video since it's a big spoiler for season 5, but if you've seen it, you'll definitely get it.

Went to my first Hibachi last night.

Was awesome, I don't know why or how I've never been to one before. It wasn't super expensive, and I know I've spent more money on worse food before. Overall, it was a blast, and our chef was awesome.

For those that don't know what a Hibachi is, It's where you gather around a flat top grill, a chef prepares your food in front of you while doing fun tricks and keeping you entertained. You get to see him make fried rice, cook your meal, cook the veggies and so forth as well as making a volcano out of an onion, breaking eggs in half with throwing them away in one swift move of his spatula and so forth. It's real fun and I suggest you give it a go. I read about them a while ago, and it seemed like their profession is more of an art than anything else. It takes years to hone your skill and I assume you get more awesome as time goes on.

Either way, these Samurai of the Stove are admirable and I'll definitely go back.

EW has new picture of the new Spartacus.

I for one don't think he looks anything like the old one. I guess it doesn't matter, but I personally am not impressed.

Here's the teaser for season 2 of Spart.

Epic Damages Premier.

'
The transition from FX to DirecTV is near seamless. The biggest difference is it runs similar to HBO. No commercials, no filter, just 57 minutes of great drama.

The Premier which introduces a bevy of new characters, including several familiar actors such as John Goodman, who after an amazing turn on Treme gave me faith that he is capable of doing great drama, and Dylan Baker who you may not know by name, but you'll definitely recognize his face. Both portray powerful characters who are charismatic enough to draw you into their world even if they've been in one episode.

My biggest gripe thus far is the ending teasers. The show has been great at showing the ending to you in bits and pieces per episode. The teasers in the premier seemed rather weak compared to previous seasons.

I won't spoil anything major since I definitely want you all to check out the prior seasons, but aside from the weak flash forwards, this episode was an easy 9.5/10 for me.

Oh and just because she's absolutely gorgeous, here's a pic of Rose Byrne.

Plot of the new Robocop announced!

Chris Pine might be the new lead for Robocoop and here's the plot outline and a concept photo.

So Unicorns are on the verge of extinction from the evil corporations of the world and it's up to one man, machine, to save the day. So Robocop rides his trusty Unicorn aptly named Weller into battle. So Weller takes Robocop on various journeys afar to help rescue and destroy the world conglomerate.

I for one am in. I was a huge fan of Robocop back when I was a kid. I loved most Verhoeven movies, even his underrated Black Book. So hopefully he has something to do with this movie and if not, I just hope this new adaptation doesn't lose the charm that Verhoeven masterfully put into all his movies.

This video is amazing. George C. Scott watches the trailer for Jack and Jill.

Sandler has a new garbage movie coming out this fall and this one, unlike his previous literally looks unwatchable.

This sums up nearly what I did when I first saw it.

NFL players are doing their best to make them seem like greedy thugs.

Arrests after arrests. DUI's, being kicked out of bars, being arrested for shooting at people, the list goes on.

Then you have morons like James Harrison who say that if their commissioner was on fire, he'd just let him burn. And taking photos like this one below.

Seriously, whats the deal here? Remember back in the day, the NBA was supposedly filled with thugs and criminals? Now it seems that it's the NFL and for some reason, it's a right of passage to be a thug.

Now don't get me wrong, I for one am a HUGE fan of the NFL, but it seems these morons outweigh the class act players. The ones who do charity for their community, build homes for widowed mothers, advocate against DUI's and so forth. But nope, they don't get the press coverage. These guys firing guns at their sisters ex boyfriends, the ones who own animals that have killed kids. The ones that have killed people DUI. Those are the ones that get the press. It's a damn shame.

That image is what I see anymore when I picture the NFL. Just a bunch of tatted up thugs acting like they're some sort of gangster.

Netflix going above and beyond the duty to be douchebags.

So because their streaming is so successful, they just announced that as of September 1st, you'll have to subscribe to either streaming or dvd's, or do the both option, that jacks the monthly price up from 9.99 a month, to 15.99 a month. In other words, it's successful, lets screw everyone who's signed up the last 5 years.

I think it's ridiculous. I've been with Netflix long before XBL and I've already endured the last 2 jacks in price, namely charging an extra 2 dollars to rent blurays per DVD you're allowed at once (I was doing 3 at a time, so it jacked up my monthly bill from 24.99 to 30.99), so I quickly canceled the Blu plan. Then I moved to the 9.99 plan for 1 DVD when they raised the price per DVD, which would have again moved my 24.99 plan to 30.99. So now at 9.99 I could just stream most everything and get 1 DVD at a time which I really didn't need. Now with this, they're going to jack it up from 9.99 to 15.99, again trying to screw me out of 6 dollars a month. Eventually, after I cancel this, they'll just try to charge me 5.99 straight up since they've been gunning for that 6 bucks for the last 2-3 years.

Either way, I think this is BS and I hope they end up losing customers due to this.

The Dark Knight Returns leaked teaser poster.

Not much to look at, but whatevs I guess. A bit too much like Inception tbh.

So it seems Advertisers are getting more creative. Imposing images on episodes of HIMYM.

How I Met Your Mother reruns have been featuring advertisements for current movies.

Pretty clever when you think about it. They now have the ability to forever impose whatever advertisement they want. Hell, I'm curious as to what the length of the agreement is. If I see this episode in 4 months, will it still be Zookeeper? Or will it go back to the old picture that  was just a shelf with no books.

Just thought it was funny.

Late to the party, but Game Of Thrones was pretty great.

Excellent fantasy drama that developed very good characters that you felt for and cared about. They offed several prominent characters throughout the season to keep you on your toes, assuming you havn't read the novel as I hadn't. It seemed like every time I was thinking, They Rock!, they ended up dying soon.

Overall, my biggest gripe was the Fellowship Of The Ring style ending. All of season 1 seems merely like a buildup for the remaining seasons rather than a stand alone season. I'm not really a fan of that.

As for the future. With Eva Green off that Matturd Camelot, she can finally fill the role she was destined for in Melisandre

Mark Strong would be a great choice for Lord Stannis.

It's a shame we gotta wait another 9 months before the new season, but I sure hope the hype leading up is as fun as the 2 year hype before season 1 was.

Best of the Best 4 is now on Netflix Instant.

For those that don't know, Best of the Best was one of America's finest films. It features the events that transpired when America took down Korea as a world power.

Real men train in the snow, shirtless.

See, back in the 70's and 80's, wars were fought through martial arts competitions. If your country had the five greatest martial artists, you were the new Super Power of the world. But back in the late 70's, the Koreans cheated in these games by making one of the sons of a legend drop his ice cream in dramatic fashion. Due to this, the Americans lost, and Korea reigned supreme over the world.

Everyday man from Detroit.

To counter this, drastic measures were taken, they fired their coach, brought in the best coach, then began recruiting. They scoured the nation to find the best of the best. See what I did there? They found a cowboy from Miami, a nerd from Nebraska, and an every day man from Detroit. Together, those three would combine their powers and become the anchor for their team and attempt to put America back on the map. Oh yea, the son who dropped the ice cream, he's back with a vengeance too. He plans on killing the man who on that fateful day, forced his ice cream to fall.

Boy vs Man, who cleans up the ice cream that's surely been spilled?

As they battled it out, the odds became insurmountable, Korea was surely to win, but what's this, Tommy (the boy) got into a position to kill his nemesis.

I won't spoil the rest for you, but I'm sure you've seen this cinema classic. After the end of the first movie, with the fighters being treated like Vietnam Vets, they were forced to do illegal streetfighting, some even lost their lives, as shown in the semi documentary Best of the Best 2: Still The Best. After their foray in underground MMA, Tommy decides to settle down only to find himself amongst a war of Indians and Bikers in Best of the Best 3: Still Bestin'. He does his best to remedy the situation which brings us to the 4th and final installment of the classic saga Best of the Best 4: Without Warning. Now I personally have yet to see it, but I'll assume it has something to do with copious amounts of ass being kicked.

So add it to your queue now, Best of the Best 4: Without Warning.

I present to you, Cuba's 1st Horror Film, Juan of the Dead!

Here we go.

I personally think it looks amazing. Has a very comedic charm to it while keeping its violent content. Sort of a Shaun of the Dead ripoff, but since Shaun was so great, it's definitely worth ripping off.

I love the SFX and the fact that it looks low budget while not being overly campy. It looks like this might take off imo. Wonder how this holds with the whole embargo, not like it'd matter I suppose, everything finds it's way onto the internet.

Not a fan of the Tour, but this freaking rocks.

Farmers, to pay tribute to the riders of the Tour de France, have decided to set up little murals on each stage, this seems to be the best so far. I for one think it's amazing. Check out the video below for the full effect.

Yao Ming retires.

What a shame, injuries affect yet another could be great of the game. Yao who was the best Center in the game from 2002 - 2007. Howard ended up taking over the reigns, simply because he couldn't stay healthy. At 7'6, Yao was one of those few players who was tall and athletic, but could also hit long range shots at a high rate of success. Yao also helped make the sport popular in the biggest market in the world, China. Due to his success, they have sent over other players to try and carry on the Chinese market in America, most notably Yi, who while not very good, was a result of the success of Yao.

I hope this isn't the last we see of Yao, maybe if he sits out for another year, he might be able to finally heal up and make a comeback. As dominant as he was, it's a shame he could only play 5 games since 08.

He will be missed, a true giant among men.

Deron Williams agrees to play in Turkey if the NBA Lockout continues.

If you don't know who Deron Williams is, then think of the second best player in the league at his position. He's easily a top 20 NBA player, maybe top 15. With him breaking the line and showing he's willing to play anywhere as long as he's playing, you wonder how much leverage the NBA owners really have in the lockout. These Euro country's are notorious for way overpaying mediocre players. What happens when other NBA players jump in line with Williams?

I just hope he doesn't get injured and ruin his career. If this works out, he's going to make a hefty sum for however long the lockout lasts. So props D-Will, proving it's not about money, but about the game.

The difference between NFL Players and every day normal guys.

The every day normal guy proposes by dropping to a knee and proclaiming their love.

NFL Players, namely Roy Williamsthough thinks otherwise. He sent 5k in cash, a video proposing and a 76k ring to a girl who promptly denied the marriage and kept the ring for a few days. How stupid do you feel after that? Not to mention getting lambasted by the media and your peers. How bad do you think he's going to have it when Training Camp starts in a few weeks?

The Girl in question is Ms. Texas, Brooke Daniels.

Being in the USA rocks. You can murder your child and get away with it. Casey Anthony just duped the Judicial System.

This bitch

kills this girl

realizes she can get off clean
and succeeds

Overall, it's sickening how pathetic our courts system is. You can kill your daughter, forget she exists for a month, be about as dumb as possible, and somehow still win the verdict. The courts are so afraid of making the wrong decision that unless she murdered her daughter in front of each juror, she would have gotten off.

I seriously hope someone on the streets pulls a New Jack City here.
