Your Highness was god awful.

Danny McBride can't carry a movie on his humor alone. The brash and vulgar style only works if there's someone else to even it out a bit. I enjoy McBride, but he does get annoying. Due to being written by McBride, that's the gist of the humor in the film.

Aside from Portman looking absolutely stunning, there's really no reason to watch this movie. The SFX sucks, the jokes are bad, and the script is just terrible.

Final Destination 5 is definitely worth seeing.

First let me start off with this, I love the series, I admit they aren't very well written or good movies in general, but they are a blast to watch and are a legit guilty pleasure of mine. I love mindless gore, and cool little cause and effect traps.

As for the series in general, 1 is always going to be my favorite just because it was fresh and something new for the "horror" genre. The way they built tension with each death, making you piece together a death before it even happens, it was cool. 4 was actually my least favorite, despite having some cool deaths, I found most of it unrealistic looking. With the other FD's, the deaths all seemed legitimate, stuff that could actually happen.

As for 5, I think this might actually be the best. It had a very likeable lead, unlike 4, had actual grief from some of the survivors, and was easily the best looking movie in the series. From the amazing looking bridge collapse that starts the whole film, to each gory and gruesome death, the film was very well done. That was my main problem with 4, it all looked so unbelievable CGI'd.

The director/writer did an excellent job with the film, many complained that the trailer gave away each of the deaths, but they really don't. I was sitting in the theater, getting ready to cringe with the screw or the eye surgery, but that wasn't the death, something else would happen. They built the tension so well before each death. You knew something that may happen, but then it'd turn out to be a completely different death than you were expecting. The film even has a very cool twist to it. Something the others lacked. I'd put it up there with some of the SAW twists.

Overall, it was a very good film that I'll definitely watch again, and if it's ever on TV, I'm definitely sticking it out.

A cool comic recommended by a non comic fan.

I'm not really into comics, I used to collect cards, and aside from owning a handful of Punisher Comics, and the first few Spawn issues, I was never really a comic nerd. I mostly enjoyed the art design and so forth without caring much for the story or background. I did enjoy the old X-Men show, and love watching the movies. But again, not really into the comic scene much.

That's just the precursor to this, I was at my friends house for the weekend and he was showing me this graphic novel/comic series in book form that actually sounded really awesome. I've been a fan of a few GN's, Sin City, 300, and Watchmen were all cool. This was based on Wolverine though. It was called, Old Man Logan. Was the story of what happened when the worlds villains joined together and took over the world. Wolverine became a pacifist, the worlds heroes were killed or went into hiding, and the US was split into 4 different sections, each controlled by a different villain, Red Skull got the East coast and proclaimed himself the President, Doctor Doom got the Bible Belt, Magneto got the Mid West, and Abomination got the West Coast.

50 years or so have passed and Wolverine is living out his life as a farmer. His territory is now owned by The Hulk and ran by his various kin. They're more so lords of the land and force Wolverine's and other surrounding families to pay taxes and so forth to stay on their land. Wolverine, despite being well renowned lives his simple life and pays, until they jack the rates up, to which he's stuck trying to find a way to pay these new rates. He gets beat down by the Banner gang and gets a visit from an old friend, a frail and blind Hawkeye who's willing to pay him for his services in being a courier. This leads to them taking a cross country journey where they encounter familiar faces throughout.

I didn't read the entire thing, but skimmed through most of it, and I thought it was a well thought out story. There's a very Fallout/Mad Max feel to it while also feeling much like a western too. Tons of graphic violence and it was cool seeing various heroes and villains pop up.

Again, I'm not a big comic guy, but this whole idea and story intrigued me. The group that did it plan on doing more, and I'm actually looking forward to them. I for one think it'd transition into an amazing movie, whether live action or animated.

Give it a look.

30 Minutes Or Less is worth seeing.

30 Minutes stars Jesse Esienberg of Zombieland/Adventureland fame, along with the always funny Tom Haverford,  and the brash and unrelenting Danny McBride seemingly playing Kenny Powers or really any of his other character. I suppose he's playing Danny McBride at this point.

The story goes like this, Danny is a 30 something year old son of a former Military man who wound up winning the lotto. He wants his dads money so he devises a plan to kill him and inherit the money. He gets word he can get him killed for 100k so he sets out on another plan to get the money. He along with his best friend (Swardon) kidnaps a Pizza Boy (Eisenberg), strap a bomb to his chest and tell him to bring them 100k or he dies. Eisenberg of course goes and recruits his friend Aziz to help him and hilarity ensues.

Despite having 3 very different and funny actors, the one who stole the show was Michael Pena as the hired assassin. He has several lines that either make you smile or laugh out loud. He truly displays why he should be getting more roles than he does. I've personally been a fan since his run on The Shield back in 04 or 05.

Overall, it was a fun movie with quite a few solid laughs. A very cool soundtrack and one of the cooler songs for a chase scene ever imo.

The only thing that sorta bugged me, is that this is somewhat based on a true story. A few years ago, someone actually kidnapped a guy and forced him to rob banks and ended up killing him. I'm not one of those too soon types, but this movie seems to just take it in good fun despite the realistic event ending tragically.

Either way, go see it, don't, whatever. I personally enjoyed it. It's a brisk 90 minutes from opening credits to after credits scene.

7.5/10

First image of Zach Snyders Superman.

Henry Cavill doesn't look too bad. Better than Brandon Routh at least.

I'm not a fan of the scales on the suit though. Wasn't it suppose to be homemade?

As for the pic itself though, looks pretty neat. Explosions, good looking guy, and an iconic suit. Is there really anything else you need to see?

Overall I'm kind of stoked. I enjoy Snyder films, even if I'm the only one.

Rest in Peace Bubba Smith (Hightower)

Former NFL great and Police Academy star died today. For those that don't remember, Bubba Smith was a 2 time pro bowler and helped The Baltimore Colts beat The Cowboys in Super Bowl 5.

After removing himself from the gridiron though is perhaps where his most memorable appearances came, Police Academy. The 6 foot 7 athlete turned actor played the aptly named Hightower in the series. Despite his massive scary frame, he was very loveable and you just wanted to hug him.

As an avid football fan, and a fan of great 80's movies, I am saddened by this. With that said, I'll now go watch Citizens on Patrol.

Quick post for now. Gears of War 3 free Multi-Player character download.

Gears of War 3 plans to have the largest array of multi-player skins of the entire series and they just released a new one that's free unlike some of the other store specific ones.

Go to this link, "like" it and then install the silly program, they give you the code, enter it on XBL, then you can delete the program if you'd like after. It's simple and it's a pretty cool character voiced by Ice-T.

Not sure how many people are going to be using this character since it's assumed to be Facebook exclusive so who knows. Hope this helps at least one of you out.
